* Bradley vs Khan Deadline Extended – Sources close to the negotiations have said that Golden Boy have extended a few extra days to a dead line in an effort to finalize a deal between WBO/WBC junior welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and his WBA rival Amir Khan. Golden Boy Promotions, on behalf of Khan, and Gary Shaw, who promotes Bradley, are trying to reach an agreement to match the two champions on an HBO televised date of July 23. – Bradley, who is guaranteed at least $1.2 million for his next HBO appearance, is not happy with the offer of $1.3 million for a unification with Khan.. The deadline, reportedly, is now Wednesday.
* Dargan back in action – Unbeaten lightweight prospect Karl Dargan (8-0, 5 KOs) will return to the ring for the first time in exactly one year this Saturday. Roger doesn’t say who Floyd will be fighting but Victor Ortiz and Miguel Cotto’s names have been mentioned as possible opponents. This would be a good chance for Mayweather to show how well he can draw in the stadium compared to Manny Pacquiao, who twice fought there but was only able to bring in just 40,000 each time out. – According to the examiner.com, Mayweather has a deal with the owner of the Cowboys stadium Jerry Jones to fight there. The biggest name has already been thrown into Bradley's hat in the last couple of days. Top Rank's Bob Arum has already stated that should Timothy come and join Top Rank then he will build his profile and make a fight with Manny Pacquiao. No ifs nor buts.
"If you asked me if we would want Tim Bradley to become a Top Rank fighter, the answer, certainly, is yes." Arum was quoted.
Already we have seen Bradley's comments that he believes Pacquiao is beatable, that he is the same size and that Manny's been "fighting stiffs" lately.
Arum knows Manny cannot feast on opponent's whose star is in the decent. Pacquiao now needs someone on the way up to the top. And Timothy Bradley is widely regarded as the main man now at 140lb and has himself had one or two forays in the 147lb welterweight limit as an amateur and pro.
The public disdain between Oscar De La Hoya and Bob Arum is there for all to see and their relationship took turns for the worse as tweets and public spats broke out across the internet. Make no mistake these guys are fierce rivals.
And when Bradley DOES eventually join Top Rank, this will be the stumbling block that will prevent a Khan unification.
Without Bradley on the horizon, Khan will be desperately short of legitimate options in the division. Feasting on Bradley's left overs, such as Devon Alexander or Junior Witter will be not be attractive to HBO nor SKY.
